Teaching and performing music became a fulltime thing in 1984, joining popular NZ rock band, “The Velvettes” – with Steve Apirana, Wally Tairakena, and Graham Flaws. The band played many of the big music festival stages in The States,  United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.  From 1992, corporate functions, weddings, vineyard performances, and a lot of touring followed while teaming up with Kaye Grenon – ‘Kit and Kaye’, later ‘de Grenon’. Together, also  composing, performing, and producing many well known jingles for radio and TV.

1994 brought a Silver Scroll/NZ Music Awards nomination for Kit Grenon’s compositions and work on ‘His Love’ (Monica O’Hagan).  In 2017, a publishing deal was signed with Motion Focus Music (MFM), – writing and recording production music for TV and film, as ‘Konstruct Music Production’. Placements are also signed with Warner Music, Perpetual Music, and Hens Teeth Music.

A person focused teaching style sees students and performers confident, motivated, and empowered to take ownership of their learning and eventually teach themselves. Teaching experience has also included 13 years  working in tertiary education as a Performance Coordinator of a degree programme and tutoring in songwriting, guitar, ensemble, music theory, and improvisation for certificate to degree programme levels.  Located in Christchurch, NZ, lessons are also available online.
